The place: the Louisiana Superdome. The date: April 29. The reason: the largest indoor bike Expo in the country hosting the best in the biz with guys like Jeff Nicklus of Desperado Motorcycles, Michael Ballew of Ballew South Central Customs, Ivy Trosclair Jr. and Ivy Trosclair III of Metry Custom Cycles, Wild Bill of Pro Street Customs, and the bikes of OCC from Discovery Channel's American Chopper. There were over 150 bikes in the bike show to take home over 50 prizes. This year the Superdome was also host to entertainment from Team Extreme X-Fest, an FMX freestyle motorcross show, Globe of Death featuring Cody Ives the youngest ride at the old age of 12, Outkastz Sport Bike Stunts show, and some of the hottest chicks out there from The Purfect Angelz with a Fashion Show and a tribute to the armed forces.
During the three days the expo allowed over 20,000 bikes enthusiasts to pass through the doors to see all that Louisiana and the superdome had to offer. As I walked the floor I was able to talk with everyone from builders to the true motorcycle lovers, and they all had good things to say about this show. It was one thing after another that keeps this show growing. Next year's show is already being planned out, and the list is growing with builders and show entertainment.
Well on to the good stuff, there were a lot of gorgeous girls and bad-ass bikes to be found in the Superdome, at the same time great live music on the back stage along with the Perfect Angelz and the too-hot-to-show-the-kids show. If you are looking for an atmosphere filled with all of the above, this is the place to be. Each day the show was full of people checking out all the new things about the industry, new parts, and getting ideas for their next build. By late Saturday the show was slowing down and the mode shifted to the outdoors, and everyone was found out in the streets of the French Quarter looking for more hot chicks, cold beers, and a good time. It was not a letdown. The streets were packed with everything we can't tell the wives about and some things only a photo can explain.
On Sunday the dome's parking lot was packed full of bikes and a long line was seen to get in. By late Sunday afternoon the bike judges made their final notes and casted their votes for the best bikes out there. There was a lot to do every day and we wish that we had more time to see it all.
