The 24th Laughlin River Run Went Off Without A Hitch And Everyone We Spoke To Had A Good Time. Not that we were surprised, since it does happen to be the biggest event on the West Coast, and there are so many fun things to do.
Having a good time at the Laughlin Run doesn't require a motorcycle license; in fact, everything is so close, you almost don't need a bike at all. Every casino had at least one headlining band, including Foreigner, Warrant, Firehouse, REO Speedwagon, and Cheap Trick. There were also wild events such as the Biggest Beer Belly contest, bike shows, and the Ms. Laughlin River Run contest. An incredible amount of shops and vendors were also in attendance, including Eddie Trotta and Thundercycle Designs, Matt Hotch, El Pitts and Vegas City Choppers, Gard and LA Choprods, Dynamic Choppers, Covington's, Mondo from Denver's Choppers, Blue Ribbon Choppers, Aces Chopperworks, Envy Cycle Creations, Performance Machine, Saxon Motorcycle Company, Patrick Racing, and way too many more to list. If a person decided to hop on a bike, there were only two places to go: the AVI for its little bike show and drag racing, or Oatman for an Old West atmosphere and a cold beer.
There were no shootings, and the weather was perfect-not too hot and no rain-so we were really happy with the event. One thing that did chap our collective hides was the incredible number of police around. We also heard they hassled many folks who didn't deserve it just because the officers were bored-not cool. But, then again, if there were no police around there probably would have been a shooting. For more information about next year's event, check out http://www.laughlinriverrun.com.
