The 2007 El Diablo Run - Run For The Border

When we all got up and could see just how nice the place was, it was worth all the work to get there. We headed out for some food and checked out San Felipe. When we got back to the campsite we were pleasantly surprised to see that some college frat house was having their once a year party and had invited some sorority house to party with them, so when we made our way back down to the beach were there were about 100-plus hot girls partying at the bar in little bikinis. Hot college girls? We were in, so the party started early on Friday. On one side, a hell of a lot of crazy bikers and on the other, a bunch of clean-cut college kids. At one point it looked like a scene from some wildlife show were the lions were on the hunt looking for a meal at the watering hole, preying on the weak little lamb.

However, by around 6:00 p.m. most of the girls were passed out all over the beach. I guess they couldn't hang, but it was a sight to see (look Ma, college money well spent). Anyway, we got cleaned up and headed back into town for some food and drinks. San Felipe was a good time, and the people were very welcoming. We will go back.

The next day we got up, shook off the hangovers, packed up the tents, and headed out to Ensenada, Mexico. It was only about 150 miles away, but once we were out of San Felipe and on the main road we were forced to take it slow because the road was so covered with potholes that a single file line was the only way to ride, and anything over 50 mph was crazy. At one point the road was so bad it looked like a long piece of Swiss cheese.

We do, too.

Some of the potholes were as small as a basketball, and some as big as semi-truck tires-big and deep. The bikes were bouncing all over the road, and at one point my front axle bolt came apart and needed a quick fix. Then, less than 20 miles out of Ensanada, my brother's handlebars snapped at the riser weld and needed to get trucked out. Once we got into town we found a radiator shop that let us use their welder, and we pulled the bars from the bike. After a bit of grinding and welding we were good to go; the bars were back on the bike and we were on the road once more. Just like San Felipe, as we pulled into town the people had their hands up, waving and welcoming us in. We rolled downtown, found the hotel, and parked the bikes. As soon as we could get cleaned up we were out on the town.
