Down on the main drag there were plenty of places to eat and drink, so we started at one end and worked our way to the top. The bars were hopping: With all the cruise ships in port, some big bicycle race, and spring break going on it was like one big party. Every place we stopped at had some deal on beer and food; at Gringos they were giving the beers away with a bucket of 12 beers for $10, and there were all kinds of hot girls...we found heaven. As you could see, the night was setting up to be good. The only thing was at around 11:00 two of us started to feel sick.

We headed back to the hotel to think about Montezuma's Revenge, and wound up stuck inside the rest of the night...while my brother and a few of the others stayed out and took on the town. When they did get back at around 4:00 in the morning all they did was tell some good stories. Come Sunday morning we needed to head back to the border; Eric and myself were not too sure about the ride home with our stomachs not doing too well, but we couldn't stay there. So we packed up and headed out.
We had about a 300-mile ride home and knew that the border crossing was going to take a while, but as soon as we were on the road it was not too bad. I will say that with every gas stop there was a bathroom break, which helped. We crossed the border sometime after 4:00 in the afternoon and still had 160 miles to go, but it was a great time and I can't wait till next year. For me this was one of the best-unorganized runs I have been on. It was a free-for-all that had no time set or mandatory stops; you were on your own to do whatever you wanted to whenever you wanted to. One of the other cool things was even if you were on your own, you weren't; if any one bike or 10 was stopped on the side of the road, everyone pulled over to help with tools or gas if you had it. It was as if you knew that you could be the next guy so don't leave anyone behind.
I need to say thanks to the guys that put this out there for us to find and do. The only bad thing is that I'm sure next year it is going to be twice as big, so if you plan to make this run, line up your rooms early, save a few extra bucks, and don't miss it.
