Odds are, if you are reading this magazine, you like choppers. It's probably another safe bet to say that if you are a chopper fan, you live by the theory that if having one bike is good, then having two would be better. And if that second bike was free, well that might push it into the past better category.
Sensing that you might like to experience this past better sensation, we had a long talk with the J&P Cycles crew. They agreed to supply all the parts we need to build a chopper to give to one of our readers - all we had to do was find someone to build it. We took a long 5.2-mile drive from our office to Hot Match Custom Cycles to see if owner Matt Hotch was interested in building our bike.Matt was into the project, so box after box of parts from the J&P Cycles catalog started showing up at his door three days later.
We spent some time hanging out with Matt while he built the basic rolling chassis of your new bike, capturing each step on film so you can show your friends how your bike was built. Remember, basically everything we are using to build this bike can be bought right out of the J&P Cycles catalog. So if you don't win but love the bike, you can build one just like it (OK, except for the custom things Matt does to it) - or you can get Matt to build one for you.
Next month we will show you the details of Matt's custom tricks and preview the bike in full painted glory. So, for now, just fill out the entry card on page 35, settle back, and watch Matt do all the hard work on the first-ever J&P Cycles/STREET CHOPPER sweepstakes bike.
