Now that he had the mockup complete, Tom tore the bike down so that he could send the frame and sheetmetal out for paint. Rory had told Tom that when it came to paint for his bike, he didn't want flames or skulls like he'd seen on so many other bikes. However, he did want a paintjob that would catch people's attention. With this guideline in mind, there were two people Tom knew that could handle such a task. The first person was Scott Thomas, and he took care of covering the frame and sheetmetal with a black cherry basecoat. Once the basecoat was dry, Scott passed the parts off to Jason Chenault, and he laid down some unique yellow graphics that were bound to turn heads.
As soon as Tom got this hands on the freshly painted parts, he began final assembly. He started by bolting 8-inch risers from MidWest into the top of the triple-tree, and then adding a set of handlebars from V-Twin. Next, a set of JB controls went on the ends of the bars, along with a mirror from MidWest on the left side. Down below, Tom bolted on a set of Pro-One forward controls for Rory's feet, and a matching set of Pro-One passenger pegs for his wife. Lighting up front was taken care of with a headlight from MidWest, while out back, a cat eye taillight from the same company mounted to a Wolverine license mount brightens up the rear. After securing the custom seat that he made to the frame, Tom called Rory to let him know his chopper was finally done.
When Rory arrived at the shop, he couldn't believe his eyes. In a matter of six months, he had gone from having no specific idea of what he wanted his dream chopper to look like, to having a chopper way beyond what he had imagined sitting right before him. When it came time to pay Tom the rest of the money for the bike, Rory handed him a check, and with a big smile said, "Thanks for making a dream come true."
