Contrary to popular belief, it doesn't take a six-figure salary to have the ultimate chopper. Just ask Geoff and Adam, the guys that run Chandler Originals out of Lake Worth, Florida. Both of the custom bikes featured on these pages go for under 20 grand a piece, about 10 thousand less than most of the production custom choppers out there, which is exactly the reason why Adam and Geoff formed the company to begin with. In fact, their base model bike completely built with a flat black paintjob retails for $12,995, and for an extra couple of bucks they'll throw in a completely unique paintjob far exceeding any expectations.
It all started about 13 years ago when Adam Chandler started messing around customizing his friend's Harleys for extra beer money. Eventually, he was able to quit his day job and customize full time, while building completely custom bikes when business was slow. As the shop grew, Adam realized he was spending as much time dealing with customers and filling out paper work as he was working on the bikes - it was time to take on a partner so he could concentrate on wrenching. One of Adam's old friends, Geoff Moore, had recently been hanging around the shop whenever he could get away from his boring real estate/ finance job and was constantly bitching about how he'd love to get into the motorcycle industry but didn't have the mechanical ability. Like a swing to the head with a half-inch breaker bar, Adam suddenly had the solution to both of their problems - Geoff could be his partner and handle the paperwork and people so he could focus on building in the back.
Since that day, years ago Chandler Originals has continued as a two-man operation, and for good reason. Both the guys are self-proclaimed perfectionists - focused and demanding of each other's work. "The public seems to believe that building a custom bike is simple. Thanks to TV show editing, people think bikes can be built in an hour. Unfortunately, finding qualified people for a real shop is extraordinarily hard," says Adam. The pair don't appear to need any help. They've taken the business nation wide and it is continuing to grow. Geoff, the businessman, claims it's the fact that they're not being greedy and their affordable prices that are driving their growth, like their lowest priced rolling chassis on the market, only $2,795. But Adam knows it's because he builds unique coolness into every bike that rolls out of their shop that easily compete with far more expensive bikes. He knows Chandler Originals rigid bikes are far more comfortable when you've got a wad of cash left in your pocket.
