Back in the '90s, a guy nicknamed Elvis (because of his southern drawl and dark hair) decided after working in the American V-twin market for six years that he was tired of working for other people. He knew enough about buying and selling new and used Harley-Davidson parts that he was able to start a business of his own online and called it Elvis' Place. He stored all the parts he could get his hands on in his garage, with nobody to answer to except himself. A few years passed and things were going well for him so he was able to move into a 5,000-square-foot warehouse where he could house a lot more parts - which eventually led to building bikes. In fact, having all those parts made him especially want to build something to show what someone could do with the new and used parts that fly through his warehouse on a daily basis.
But Elvis works almost completely by himself - he doesn't have any full-time employees - so he needed some help building the bikes, otherwise he wouldn't be able to keep the business running. He didn't have to think for very long to come up with the name of a guy he knew he could trust to build with him: his long time friend and mechanic, Jeff Smith. Jeff had been working on Elvis' bikes from the day they met, and now the two of them produce about three custom bikes a year.
As with all of Elvis' bike builds, he started and finished with inventory he already had in his warehouse. This time it was a stretched, Swedish-style, Chopper Guys frame, a 10-inch-over front end with H-D lowers, Progressive Suspension shocks, and a set of H-D spoke wheels. Elvis wanted the bike to be different from the hordes of Evos (plus it had to be reliable), so he went with an '05 H-D Twin Cam with a pair of Panhead-style rocker box covers in front of a Harley transmission. Sheetmetal came in the form of a Midwest gas tank, Biker's Choice 8-inch rear fender, and H-D FXR sidecovers, all covered in House of Kolor Tangerine. They rounded out the build with PM calipers bolted to both wheels, JayBrake foot and hand controls, and a Headwinds headlight.
Three months later, Elvis and Jeff put together a chopper that grabs people's attention just as good as it grabs the road through a turn!
