The fuel tank was then given the Devil's touch with the use of HotMatch flush-mounted tank mounts, flush-mounted fuel line crossover, as well as a flush mounted fuel cap. And if all of that was not enough, a flush-mounted Dakota Digital mini speedo was then installed to monitor speed. Lucky Devil custom-made front and top motor mounts fabricated to hold the little Sporty motor in place. While no changes were to be made to the insides of either drive components, seems there just had to be something done to the engine. So, the cam cover was removed and anything not needed to support camshafts or hold in oil was done away with. The cover was then sent to Hands Off Polishing in Garland to be returned to its original luster.
While the cam cover was on its journey to north Texas, Kent fabricated the beltguard to protect Scott's blue-jean investment. Anyone who has ever had their pantleg sucked through an open beltdrive will tell you it is no fun.
The cover work might seem excessive to some, but you must realize it was the best way to gain proper clearance for the Lucky Devil fabricated exhaust pipes which tuck in nice and close to the bike - Kent didn't want Scott's shiny new exhaust pipes dragging in a turn. From there, the Devil turned his evil attention to the oil retention duties, fabricating the oil tank/battery box which also contains most of the electrical components for Spike. The taillight was then repositioned and mounted below the custom-made solo seat which was fabricated in-house by Joe Noack.
With the bike beginning to take shape it was time to consider what to do with the rear section. Since Scott's wife was not going to be putting in any fender time, more possibilities were available to the sick and twisted mind of the Devil. The custom-made rear fender and struts were mounted to the swingarm allowing for a much cleaner and tighter fit to the tire.
When all the metalwork was finally completed, it was time to ship the girl off to paint. Scott chose a Charcoal metalflake which was then applied by Mike Landberg, Lucky Devil's in-house painter. Lucky Devil now supports a state-of-the-art crossdraft paint booth so Scott's ride never had to leave the Devil's workshop. After Mike was done applying the main coat, Ken Hill then laid down the graphics to complete the package.
Now Scott has a Sportster with attitude and bite! Seems the only one Spike has not drawn blood from using one of the many protruding protective points is the lovely Jamie who was kind enough to share the limelight with Spike in the pages of STREET CHOPPER.
