The Injustice Continues
In case you hadn't heard by now, the South Dakota Supreme Court has reinstated the law license of former congressman Bill Janklow, who was convicted of felony manslaughter, reckless driving, speeding, and failure to stop at a stop sign, in the traffic death of motorcyclist Randy Scott, 55. "Motorcyclists across the country are shocked, outraged, and dismayed that a convicted felon would be allowed to get his law license back and practice law," said Edward Moreland, AMA vice president for government relations. "This sends the message that there are few consequences for the death of a motorcyclist." As the AMA reminds us, because it involved a federal lawmaker, the case has drawn national media attention, but dozens of other cases in other states have sadly had similar outcomes. www.ama-cycle.org.
Tropical Paradise in Texas
We're always up for having a good time, especially when those who are less fortunate are benefited simultaneously. The Beach-N-Biker Fest, a motorcycle show and classic rock concert located in South Padre Island, Texas, is an event that aids local charities. Put on by the Magic Valley Riders Motorcycle Club of Harlingen, Texas, along with a sister chapter in McAllen, both non-profit organizations have in just three years put together a first class motorcycle show and great classic rock concert at a location known as the "South Texas' tropical paradise". Average temperature is 82 degrees year-round to support field events, vendors, live music, door prizes, and a Mexico run. All this in the name of charity-break out the Tequila and your wallets! For more information about the Beach-N-Biker Fest, go to ww.beachnbikerfest.com.
Go Get Fitted
Hardbikes has installed the first four Hardbikes Design Centers at Bucks County Custom Cycles in Pipersville, Pennsylvania, Chrome and Custom in Fairfield, New Jersey, Suzuki of Swansea in Swansea, Massachusetts, and Street Stuff in Norwich, Connecticut. The design center allows customers to work with a certified designer to get fitted for their custom bike on one of the two Hardrider systems. One Hardrider system provides fitment for the bobber and Pro Street bike, while the other is designed for the chopper and high roller models. The buyer can either come into the dealership or log onto the Hardbikes Web site and design their custom motorcycle through a software application called the Design Wizard. After that is completed, they sit down with their local dealer to get fitted for the bike to their physical dimensions and riding style. This allows the designer to make sure the relationship of the leg extension, arm reach, and posterior position fall within a comfortable riding position in the comfort triangle. For more information about the Hardbikes Design Centers, go to www.hardbikes.com or call (724) 981-7000.

It's a Family Affair at Peterson's Harley-Davidson
For over 50 years in South Florida, the Peterson family has been involved with Harley-Davidsons in one way or another, an impressive family tradition. A number of those years have been dedicated to owning and operating South Florida Harley-Davidson dealerships located in Miami, Hallandale, and Key West. Due to an ever-growing business, the family's location in Miami (the original Peterson dealership location) has recently undergone an expansion, although they've managed to keep the original jail cells for troublesome customers. The new facility is a refurbished Circuit City that is over 40,000 square feet and features a H-D museum with a special exhibit remembering the family's beginnings in Key West. If you find yourself in the South Florida area, do yourself a favor, check out the new facility and say hello to the Peterson's.For more information about the Miami location, go to www.miamiharley.com or call (800) 545-2561.
