 2005 G-Spot Customs Side View

There are so many custom builders in the motorcycle industry that it can be hard to stand out. Geoff Giles, fabricator, racer, head janitor, and owner of G-Spot Customs in Denver has brought a new dimension and outlook to the sometimes bland custom bike industry. G-Spot's motto is "not old school, not new school, just pissed off handcrafted motorcycles." The Evel Knievel G-Bob came from this philosophy and has taken styling hints from old, new, metric, and race bikes. "We had a frame lying around the shop and I knew I wanted to do a bobber-type bike with G-Spot styling," Geoff says. "I had a look that I was after and originally had planned to use a 21-inch wheel with clip-on sportbike bars. Unfortunately, at the time, I only had a Wide Glide 21-inch in stock and it wouldn't fit," he comments. "For kicks, I threw on an 18-inch wheel that I was using on another build and some dirt bike bars. I stood back, looked at it, and thought, Damn that bike looks like it was meant to jump cars!" Geoff adds, "Instantly, the bobber had just transformed into the Evel Knievel G-Bob. I know it's no XR750, but it still turned out cool."

Geoff had built a long chopper the year before and it just didn't suit his riding style. He wanted to build a V-twin to race around the streets of Denver, and that's exactly what he had when he finished the Evel Knievel G-Bob. "Long choppers are cool, but it's really hard to just hammer on them day after day and make it through the streets the way I like to ride." He started to strip parts off his long chopper that could be used on the G-Bob like the S&S 113ci engine, the Midwest Slick Shift five-speed transmission, and the BDL 3-inch beltdrive. He liked the way the superbike frontend looked but wanted to add his own G-Spot flare. So he machined his own triple-trees and risers to match up with the metric Answer pro-taper handlebars. Not stopping there with his superbike influence, Geoff chose to use a Brembo Ducati 999 superbike clutch master cylinder that offers an amazing lightweight pull and super-aggressive feel. To keep with the clean yet aggressive look, he added an Exile sprotor setup, which works well on such a light bike. He utilized a Mooneyes oil bag and mounted it G-Spot-style up front. Geoff went with beefy, but light PM Hooligan wheels and Metzeler tires in the rear to give some added stability.

What you see is what you get with this bike. It is no nonsense, light, and fast. This is a daily rider, and it recently went up against a bike with a 124ci engine and absolutely blew it away. But we think it may have something to do with Geoff being a racer in addition to the super-light Evel Knievel G-Bob.
