The Right Accessories
In the May '06 issue of STREET CHOPPER, we goofed up the "Accessories" section of "The Vitals" (aka the tech box) in the feature "RawMeat." To get all the correct information on the Twisted Choppers' (TC) Havoc chopper, you can go to the TC website, www.twistedchoppers.com. Twisted Choppers works hard to create one-of-a-kind bikes that reflect old-school attitude with modern power and creativity. As the business grows, the company's building mentality will stay the same: "We build parts and bikes in our own unique style and fabricate our parts in-house to ensure quality and value."
Can't Argue With a Good Time
The 2006 Texas National Bike Show will be held at the Galveston Island Convention Center on November 3rd and 4th. More than 100 custom bikes are expected again this year, along with many local and national vendors, all of whom will certainly fill up the 40,000-square-foot venue. Don't miss the Houston Burlesque as the group performs its updated "sassy show" Friday night, or the bikini competition both nights. Saturday there will be a belly-dance show and then the crowning of the new Miss Texas National Bike Show. The free game room will also make an encore appearance with pool tables, foosball, and air hockey, along with full cash bars. So if you find yourself in Galveston, Texas, in November, be sure to hit up the show for what undoubtedly sounds like a good time.Visit www.texasnationalbikeshow.com.

European Innovation
STC has been a fan of the European custom-bike scene for quite a while, and the winners of the 2006 AMD European Championship certainly haven't changed our opinion. Altogether, 127 custom bikes were entered in Mainz, Germany, this past March by 98 builders representing 19 different countries. First Place went to Thunderbike of Hamminkeln in Germany with a lowrider custom, "Spectacula." The custom's swoopy lines and a belt-free, direct-drive 300mm fat rearend made it a clear choice for the top prize early on. Second Place went to newcomer Stellan Egeland of SE Service, near Stockholm in Sweden. His flathead-engine, drag race-inspired "Esox Lucius" is only the second bike built by the hot rod specialist. Third Place went to Charley Gregoire of Red Baron Choppers in Belgium for "Revenge," a transverse-mounted V-Twin, finished throughout in aluminum and stainless steel. We wish we'd been there to cover the event ourselves. Looks like the Europeans are cranking out some innovative bikes for '06. To view more of the winners, go to www.amdproshow.com.
Continue To Help!
We all knew the long-term effects of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita would be severe. Although the constant media attention on Hurricanes Katrina and Rita has died off, the need for assistance hasn't changed. In an effort to continue relief and rebuild efforts, Deep South Choppers of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, designed, built, and donated an estimated $60,000 patriotic-themed "Hurricane Chopper" custom bike. The chopper's themed paint job is a patriotic red, silver, and blue, with a helpless hero on the gas tank overlooking the Louisiana Gulf Coast as Hurricane Katrina moves onshore. The Hurricane chopper made its first national debut at Daytona Bike Week and will tour the rest of the country on a seven-month, million-dollar fund-raising campaign. Donations of $10 per ticket are available and will be sold by the Baton Rouge Lions Club. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go toward assisting those devastated by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. For more information about Deep South Choppers' "Hurricane Chopper," go to www.hurricanechopper.com or www.deepsouthchoppers.net.
Sturgis Plans, No Excuses
For the fourth year in a row, during Sturgis Bike Week Thunder Road will be the custom capital of Sturgis. The 40,000-square-foot Thunderdome will be host to four major bike shows; the Michael Lichter's "School's Out, Old School, New School, All(s) Kool" exhibition; plenty of vendors; Rick Fairless Strokers Sturgis; and some of the top custom bikes from around the world. That's not all by a long shot, either. Thunder Road will also have the Miss Sturgis contest, the Texas Bikini team, and a long list of live entertainment. Thunder Road is part of the Glencoe Nation and is located directly in front of the Glencoe Camp Resort, which will be host to Rock 'n' The Rally, an event that will have more than 20 national music acts including Big and Rich, Cheap Trick, Sammy Hagar, Steve Miller Band, and Nickelback. So just in case you were worried about your Sturgis plans, there are just a few ideas to get you going. For more information, go to www.thunderroadsturgis.com
