"She was one of those rich old Beverly Hills types who had a bunch of money and a bunch of toys, and she just kind of flaked out on the deal," Brian recalled.
This posed a new dilemma for Brian. Now he was stuck with not one, but two almost identical bikes. For you builders out there, it ain't necessarily cheap to build a ground-up custom, so you understand Brian's concern. Well, he cut his losses with said buyer and kept the deposit and the bike.
Enter Good Samaritans (and angels on Brian's shoulders) Nannette and Jay Lontayao, who've known Brian for some time now. "Every bike I have ever personally built for myself, they have ended up buying." Brian said.
Since the cycle gods were on Brian's side, Jay and Nanette came to visit him shortly after Daytona and were sympathetic to his situation. They took one look at the two bikes and Nanette fell in love with them. So Brian finished up the replacement for her and presented it to her last year in Sturgis, SD.
So everything worked out: Brian got to keep his original bike, and Nannette was more than pleased with her new toy. A win-win for everyone!
You see? Don't you just want to applaud Nannette for being such a big sweetheart? It makes me want to give her a great big bear hug.
