In order to create his monster, Dr. Frankenstein collected body parts from anywhere he could. In his laboratory he put the pieces together for his greatest experiment. Dr. Frankenstein wanted to do something that no one else had ever done, or even dared to try. He wanted to bring the dead back to life.
Harry Normington and Lor Izzard of Jailhouse Choppers in Savannah, GA, aren't trying to give life to the dead. But like their mad predecessor, they collected parts from anywhere they could for their experiment, and with those parts they created something no one else ever had. They called their creation The Hinge. Harry Normington has loved motorcycles since he was a little kid.
He started riding old bikes and upgrading whenever the money and the opportunity arose, but he had to give up riding for a time when his country needed him. While in the army, Harry went to Iraq for Operation Desert Storm, and flew Cobra and Apache helicopters in the Persian Gulf. Once back home, Harry started his own company, Savannah Powder Coat Services. There he powdercoated anything from bikes to lawn furniture.
Much Like Harry, Lor Izzard developed a love for bikes at an early age, in part due to his father. Lor learned quickly how to keep things running and found that he had to make parts by hand. He banged together parts from what he could, because when he got started there weren't as many shops and parts to choose from as there are today. For over twenty years now, Lor has loved bikes, and has used his inner mad scientist to keep them running. Lor decided that he wanted to start a shop of his own.
Then one day Lor went to his old friend Harry. They had done business together in the past. Using Lor's bike shop and Harry's powdercoating business, they decided to put their talents together and create Jailhouse Choppers.
At first things started out in a small garage. Then they worked their way into a larger place. Harry says that they are already outgrowing their current location and are looking for something bigger. There are only three employees working at Jailhouse Choppers, but their reputation as innovators in an already innovative business is growing, and they have to grow with it.
