Girder frontends have always been popular among chopper enthusiasts dating back to the early '70s. We found this old Shovelhead bike feature in the Street Chopper archives, which of course is sporting a Girder frontend, and was built by the late John Harman, who created the legendary Harman internally sprung Girder.
The internal suspension frontend is 16 inches over stock and is still just as appealing today as it was back in the day. John started with a '57 H-D FLH that he picked it up for a mere $300. After sitting on it for about three years he decided to get started on the project, which only took him six months and $1,000 to make it the chopper he envisioned. The front wheel is a nimble 21x2.75-inch spoker with no front brake that fits nicely between the very narrow frontend. There are tons of cool parts on this bike such as the 88ci engine, dual carbs, four spark plugs, and the twin Hunt Magneto, that we're sure you'll enjoy taking a trip down memory lane.
