Over the winter of 1972 in a small garage in Sanborn, New York, Dave Ripley put in a ton of work on his 10-over rigid Panhead with majorly molded tank, frame, and fender. Once the bodywork was sanded silky-smooth, Chuck Hardy laid on the red and blue lacquer paint with heavy accents of gold pearl. The bike sits on a set of 21- and 16-inch wheels, while the stock 74ci motor sucks in air with a Linkert carb and spits it out with a set of custom pipes topped off with some turn-outs. With an initial cost of $700 and a grand total of $3,000 in custom work, this bike is a stellar case-in-point of how the choppers of the day were well-thought-out machines that were made to ride!
