A few months ago the fine folks at Replay sent in a few of their XD cameras for some testing ans this subsequent review.

I personally have been playing with the Replay XD camera since before the El Diablo run and I have to say it a great way to catch your live action both on and off the bike.

The XD shoots in 640x480 at 1.3 Megapixels, which is great for any and all sub-HD filming.

The Camera is small (about the size of a tube of lipstick) and unobtrusive. It is constructed with a bomb-proof hard anodized, aluminum chassis. Powering the XD is a rechargeable internal battery that lasted me up to 5 hours on a single charge and all the recording is done with the usage of a removable Mico SD card.

When it comes down to the operation of the Replay XD, it is simply a joy. Separate ON and OFF buttons make the camera easy to operate. The camera has both visual LED and a tactile vibration (like a cell phone on silent) so you know the unit is really on or off. Unlike some of the other cameras in this market segment.

I mounted the first camera to my bike with Replay's Rugged and lightweight billet aluminum chassis mount on my handlebars. This mount comes in a variety of clamp sizes so it can fit anything from sissybars to rollbars. With this mount the camera can be securely positioned 360° for various camera angles.

Out back, I attached the second Replay camera to the fender of my bike for some rear view action. it was simply affixed with Replay's stock camera mount and 3M's Dual-lock Velcro.

I could tell you about how the videos looked, but that would bore you, so I did a few sample videos and posted them to You Tube. One of me is hitting a car at 70MPH the first day I mounted it!

My consensus is the the Replay XD is one great value. Replay kills it with its, design, size and ease of use, but the XD falls a bit short in picture quality. Nothing that bothers me, but some technophiles want HD everything, so they may want to wait for the more expensive Replay XD1080 H-D camera on the way.

I've heard there's already a box in the mail addressed to Street Chopper, so I'll hip you to just how it works when the brown santa drops em off.

 Tarrera's Thy Will Be Done art exhibition featuring kustom kulture artists was hosted and held yesterday at Affliction clothing's impressive headquarters in Seal Beach, California. There was plenty to entertain the crowd with hot rods outside, including Affliction's own armageddon-style rat rods, and live tattooing inside by West Coast Ink, as well as roving cerveza chicas and the custom-built onsite Affliction company concept store where rock stars and MMA celebrities were scoping the duds in the massive studded-framed mirrors.

The gathering of notable motorcycle industry artists and artisans such as Kirk Taylor, Buck Wild, Paul Cox, Trevelen, Duane Ballard, Sara Ray, Sonny Boy, complemented by fine lowbrow artists David Lozeau, Latisha Wood, blacksmith and metal masters like Alex Atman, Big Iron Joe Magliato, and Saign Charlestein, as well as tattoo artists Jack Rudy and Will Thompson, seems to have found a much needed venue that was showcased in prior years at Tay Herrera's studio in Orange, California.

Affliction has further embraced the motorcycle and hot rod culture with their new American Customs collection with signature t-shirt designs featuring Indian Larry, Chica, Arlen Ness, Eddie Trotta, Matt Hotch, and Michael Barragan of Evil Spirit Engineering. 

We're definitely looking forward to next year's show!

 Ruby, our 40th Anniversary bike has been a little bit ill since we chucked her together a while back in time to make it into the 40th Anniversary issue.

Our pal Eric Webb offered to pick her up and run her our to Pomona so Father Fury AKA Rico Fodrey at Hi-Bond Modified can give her the TLC she deserves

 We are hoping to get her all repaired and running before the Born Free show, so keep an eye out for her there...

 The fender was replaced with a Superglide-style OEM rear fender from Harley-Davidson and painted by Santini Paint. Oh, and it got dented and needed to be fist even before it found its way onto our bike... READ ABOUT IT

 We've been riding a set of these Chrome Saipan Shoes and they are pretty damn nice. First designed for bicycle couriers, they have been a favorite of our pals who ride kick-only bikes in the Bay Area for quite some time due to their good looks and technological design.

 Our pal Anthony at Chassis Design Co hipped us to the spare fuel tanks he's making for bikes with small tanks.

 This little tank can be mounted anywhere in the bike and holds a bit more than a liter and can get you where you need to when your 2.2-gallon chopped-up Sporty tank lets you down.

TEXAS BIKE WORKS introduces the new, unique Century-Rocket frame model as an addition to its overall line of chopper Retro-Frames.

The Century-Rocket frame shown “fuses” the “old-school look” of vintage 1970s small-diameter tubular members with modern-era Sportster motors (1986-2003). This frame is constructed of rugged, 0.120”- wall, AISI 1020 DOM tubing, having 1” frame rails with a 1-1/2” backbone and seat post. Also features a 5” forward x 2” up-stretch x 38-degree rake. This configuration takes a +4 over fork assembly. The frames are set up for acceptance of chain-driven 130mm tires.

 All frame models are TIG-welded in our new patent-pending, adjustable/rotisserie-style jig. The frame is completely welded, stress-relieved, and cooled without removal from this jig - which minimizes distortion and maintains accuracy. TBW has also recently made this adjustable jig commercially available to any frame builder or custom bike builder.

RetroFrames are computer-engineered in SolidWorks CAD software, followed by a corresponding stress/strain-field finite-element-analysis (FEA) performed in COSMOSWorks. FEA graphically depicts the field distributions throughout the frame design enhancing TBW’s quality assurance goal geared toward top road performance and safety.

 While we were are in Daytona Beach for bike week we always make a pilgrimage to Robison Motorcycles to check out the amassed treasures. The shop has been in the same spot since 1962 and it has so many killer Harley hard parts and other biker giblets that you can spend hours (or days) there picking through piles and peeping memorabilia.

 We were also lucky enough to arrive at Robison the same day they had their annual vintage bike show and to tell you the truth there were some jewels on hand. Whether it be old race bikes or Knucklehead bob-jobs our heads were spinning at all the killer old iron.

 Our main man Jason Craze, East Coast hardcore dude turned So-Cal local is the proprietor of a collective he calls Eternal Combustion. Within this collective Craze started getting all sorts of neat stuff from Asia and other countries imported so guys like us could get our mitts on some killer stuff that was only available overseas.

 One of these items is the Troop Moto helmet. Like all Ex-BMX and MXers, Craze looked fondly upon the Bell Moto and BMX-3 helmets. Well, if you have looked the price on Vintage Moto helmets has been sky rocking ever since Jeff/Nelson first showed up with one on the Church Of Choppers site.

Sensing the demand, Craze hooked up with TT&Co and helped them design an updated version, which you see here. The Troop Moto has a padded chin strap with D-ring, tinted visor, and a removable liner. The non-DOT helmets are available in gloss black, flat black, and vintage yellow. It goes for $169 and after riding with it for a short time, it has become my go-to helmet of choice.

Why in the hell do folks call it an oil bag? it's made from metal, so a friggin' TANK!

From this day on I will never call it a BAG, and I think y'all should join me in doing the same.

Nonetheless, one of the nicest oil TANKS on the market is made by Acme Choppers. It has all the bells and whistles that most do, but it's construction is nothing short of beautiful.
