Finally, the thing I have taught myself to do, is save the good parts. Not every part that gets replaced, but the units that show promise for re-use in an emergency or the potential to be modified to be something else get kept. But, in order to keep some semblance of order and functionality in my garage, I throw things away now too.
Certainly none of this is new to any of you, but I just thought a reminder about those little things we often forget might help. I know that since I started thinking this way, those annoying little trips to the parts store have been fewer and the repair jobs easier. My garage is getting closer to being my shop each day.
