Part15
Twisted Choppers Under-Trans Oil TankEven without going out of your way to hide lines, cables and hoses, it still helps to consolidate parts that work with one another. For instance, using Twisted Choppers' under-the-trans-plate oil tank places the oil closer to the motor so the lines don't have to be as long, and they're not in direct sight. Gravity feed is not important, as the oil is pump-driven; also, this oil-tank relocation puts the oil as near to the ground in the frame as possible to lower the bike's center of gravity and improve handling. The oil tank holds just over 3 quarts of oil, which weighs about 8 lbs by itself, but when you put that weight closer to the ground the bike feels lighter at low speeds, and it's easier to pull the bike off the kickstand.
Twisted Choppers won't send out one of these 12-gauge cold-rolled steel tanks without getting your specific frame dimensions first, thus ensuring that the tank will fit before it reaches your door. While welding is required, this oil tank is no harder to mount than a standard horseshoe bag under a seat. It only took about an afternoon to fit the Twisted Choppers bag to my Xtreme Cycle Design rigid frame.
